Buy and Sell Fruits and Vegetables in Bulk with the iPad and Vegetality App
Farmers are now able to sell their produce from the comfort of Apple’s tablet screen.
Huercal-Overa, Spain, November 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Vegetality a startup, by Spanish company ExpanHouse SL, has just published their new iPad app in the App Store, allowing farmers to sell their produce directly to industries and retail sales channels, streamlining the distribution chain.
Furthermore, it also works the other way round, allowing retailers to skip when possible wholesalers or importers and contacting producers directly, thus eliminating some steps in the sale process.
The practical consequence is less money to share with all these intermediate players, so more money to the farmer and cheaper prices for the consumer.
Following the new trends in the food industry, it allows to search for organic only produce, or within a certain distance of the user, a must have for the Grow local. Eat local fans.
“The process is quite simple, it takes less than a minute. Imagine you are a farmer and want to sell your apples, you launch the app and login, or register if it is your first time, tap on the Sell offer tab, select apples from the product menu, select packaging, size, quality quantity and price, map will show your current position as the place where you will deliver from... tap Save button and that’s it... you will start receiving alerts when someone within your delimited area wants to buy your apples,” said Santiago Hernández, CEO of Vegetality’s parent company. “This app can make a huge difference, giving the farmer freedom to sell with better profit margin, and at the same time allowing retailers to reach better prices while maintaining quality. It creates a win-win scenario.”
As a service based on the cloud, users get push notification alerts, even if their iPads are in sleep mode.
The Vegetality app is available in Apple App Store worldwide and it is free to download, as it is free to set offers in the system.
First appearing in English and Spanish, full localizations to French, Italian, German, Netherlander and Portuguese are being readied, with every major language in the works.
iPhone and iPod Touch versions of the app are scheduled before the end of the year, and android and web versions are in the pipeline too.
