He is a member of the Grant Advisory Committee and Scholarship Review Committee of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, is a member of the Professional Advisors Network of the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida. He also is a member of the Planned Giving Committee for Habitat for Humanity Lee and Hendry Counties.

Gurgold received his undergraduate degree from Boston University; his J.D. from New York Law School and his LL.M. (Taxation) from Boston University School of Law.
