Detroit, MI, November 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Wayne State Student agency, D-Pact is hosting a natural gas week on November 10th, 14th, and 15th. These are campus events that raise awareness about how natural gas is domestic, safe, clean, and an affordable energy source for power generation and transportation fuel that can create jobs. On November 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., D-Pact will generate awareness at a tailgating event, by passing out information as well as having contestants compete for prizes that are themed toward the benefits of natural gas. Furthermore, this event will take place at Wayne State’s final, regular season home football game at the Matthaei Physical Education Center 263 Warren Avenue.
On November 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., D-Pact agency will inform Wayne State and the Detroit community youth about these factors to students on campus. This will take place in front of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library on 5150 Anthony Wayne.
November 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., there will be a Natural Gas Forum. Professionals in this energy field will speak to students about the positive effects that natural gas has locally and in the state of Michigan. The location for this event is inside the David Adamany Undergraduate Library on 5150 Anthony Wayne.
Edventure Partners, an organization that develops education partnership programs, is having Wayne State along with other universities across the country compete. The America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) Collegiate Energy Challenge provides this opportunity. They set rules by requesting each university to develop unique ways of raising awareness about the benefits of natural gas. ANGA is an organization that promotes the benefits of natural gas to lawmakers, utility and industry users as well as the media.
Three student teams who win the ANGA Collegiate Energy Challenge will be invited to present their campaign at ANGA offices in Washington D.C. Also, they will have the opportunity to win funds toward their individual university.
“Winning the ANGA Collegiate Energy Challenge means more than the honor for D-Pact to go to Washington D.C. and win funds for Wayne State University,” D-Pact member, Chanelle Dickerson said. “It's about how much the students’ awareness about natural gas has increased and what this could mean for the auto industry, powering facilities and the future,” D-Pact member, Chanelle Dickerson added.
The significance of this opportunity is to give students unique, real-world experience of creating a marketing campaign for a national organization.
“This program has been one of the greatest experiences I’ve had working for any campaign throughout my years at Wayne State,” D-Pact member, James Nicoll said. “We have a great opportunity to get involved with the Detroit community and spread awareness regarding how natural gas can transform the economy and everyday ways of energy consumption,” D-Pact member, James Nicoll said.
