Douglass Colony Group received two prestigious honors at the 2012 Associated General Contractors (AGC) ACE Awards for Construction Excellence. Douglass Colony was awarded ACE Gold in the “Best Building Project – Sub (Under $2 Million)” for Denver Police Crime Laboratory and Bronze for “Best Building Project-Sub ($2 Million-$6 Million)” for Children’s Hospital East Tower Addition.
Commerce City, CO, November 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Children’s Hospital Colorado is a non-profit hospital and the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Colorado. The 11-story, 355,000 square foot East Tower Addition at Children’s Hospital will increase the total number of patient beds to around 500 and add the specialty service “The Colorado Institute for Maternal and Fetal Health.” Douglass Colony’s project scope included the installation of stainless steel sheet metal, aluminum screen panels, stainless steel standing seam metal roof, fencing, ACM composite metal wall panels, column covers, soffit panels, PVC roof, EPDM roof, and a plaza paver system. Douglass Colony also performed Hydrotech waterproofing. The East Tower Addition at Children’s Hospital is LEED registered through the U.S.G.B.C. and will pursue LEED certification upon project completion.
The Denver Police Crime Laboratory building is architecturally unique and geometrically complex with all four sides completely different shape and design, including one side which was designed to mimic the structure of a DNA molecule. Douglass Colony designed, fabricated, and installed 1,800 custom composite metal panels (29,834 square feet) in six different colors that due to the unique, varied geometric design of the building required intricate measurements on every single panel for a completely custom panel system. Douglass Colony also installed a Vaproshield SA Moisture Barrier over the entire building. The Denver Police Crime Laboratory is Silver LEED certified.
AGC states that “The Award for Construction Excellence (ACE) is an annual recognition program that recognizes AGC members for their projects based on many facets of construction – dynamic design, quality, skill, strength and performance.” This year celebrates the 25th year of the award ceremony, where top general contractors, subcontractors (specialty), and associate members gather to celebrate construction excellence in the state of Colorado.
AGC Colorado presented a total of twenty-nine awards in 10 different categories on Friday, November 2, 2012 at the 2012 ACE Awards at the Hyatt Regency in Denver, CO.
