Rasa-Lila Yoga United Holiday Social + Art & Fashion Show Fundraiser
Tampa, FL, November 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Florida wellness and yoga community is coming together to help raise funds to benefit Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. On Saturday, December 8, Rasa-Lila Fest will host an event at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts in downtown Tampa called “Rasa-Lila Yoga United Holiday Social + Art & Fashion Show.” 100% of the net proceeds raised during the event will benefit Mahila Partnership, a nonprofit based in Tampa that is supporting the response and recovery after Hurricane Sandy.
“So many people are without power or shelter on the East Coast,” said Angela Devlen, co-founder of Mahila Partnership. “This holiday event will be an impactful way to band together, raise money and support those impacted, including our wellness and yoga colleagues who have been hit hard up North. It is so important for us to help people in the Northeast reclaim their dignity as well as secure their home, health and economic future.”
Mahila Partnership’s ambassadors are serving as advisors and part of a support team to help affected individuals and families in the Northeast recover from the storm. This is the third year for the Rasa-Lila Yoga United Holiday Social + Art & Fashion Show, and many people are attracted to come to the event to raise money for a good cause while eating delicious food from popular local restaurants such as TUN-DU-REE, enjoying a fashion show by Fresh Threads Designer Consignment, and listening to great music.
Tickets are a suggested $20 in advance at http://www.rasalilafest.com/. Many businesses and organizations across Tampa Bay and beyond are also getting involved by becoming donor partners at various levels from $50 to $500. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
“This is the second year that the holiday benefit has chosen Mahila Partnership as the organization that all of the proceeds will go to,” said Nathan Bangs, founder of Rasa-Lila Fest and Yoga Tampa Bay. “Mahila Partnership uses 100% of the proceeds to serve communities that are dealing with the aftermath of a disaster and has a special focus on public health. From Tampa Bay and around the world, Mahila is making a profound impact to help people in need.”
Last year, Mahila Partnership used the proceeds from the holiday event to support ongoing recovery efforts after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. They also helped locally when Progress Village dealt with a tornado in May 2011 and assisted in parts of North Carolina and Massachusetts after floods and hurricanes. As a nonprofit, grassroots organization, Mahila Partnership relies on donor support to carry out its education, public health and sustainable development initiatives while promoting disaster risk reduction and gender equality.
