Enable America Salutes Military Veterans and Promotes Employment Opportunities

Washington, DC, November 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In conjunction with Veteran’s Day, Enable America is saluting all those who have served in the U.S. military, and is reaffirming its commitment to improve job opportunities for disabled veterans and wounded warriors.

“On this day we pause to honor all men and women who have served in defense of our nation,” said Richard Salem, founder and CEO of Enable America. “To those who have sacrificed through injury or disability, Enable America is with you, working to open new avenues to meaningful employment.”

Since 2002 the nonprofit organization has worked to improve employment for all people with disabilities, and has designated November as “Disabled Veteran Employment Mentoring Month,” to increase attention on employment transition support for military members.

Enable America provides this through services that include Career Mentoring Days, in which participants engage directly with employers, and Job Skills Workshops, where human resource professionals work individually with participants to improve job seeking skills.

“We increasingly find more employers wanting to help those who have paid a price in defending liberty, both disabled veterans and the wounded warriors who are most recently returning from Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Salem. “Enable America is proud that for the fourth straight year we can focus this month’s events on this very deserving portion of the American population.”

This year Enable America expanded programs to disabled veterans and wounded warriors in the Washington D.C. area, part of its ten year anniversary celebration. On that occasion Congressman C.W. Bill Young praised the organization for its work, particularly the programs supporting military veterans, in a proclamation on the floor of the 112th Congress.

“Enable America assists our wounded warriors as they return to active duty or civilian life,” Congressman Young said. “These brave men and women who have served our country in combat deserve all the assistance that we can provide. Military service members, past and present, possess a great sense of honor and traits any employer would find valuable--duty, commitment, and loyalty. Enable America honors their service and sacrifice by showing businesses that investing in our nation's veterans and honoring their service to our nation is not charity, but a smart decision.”

A number of the nation’s largest employers participate in Enable America programs, including Eaton Corporation, IBM, Clark Construction, IAP Worldwide Services, Duke Energy, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Bank of America, Gerdau Long Steel North America, PNC Bank, Rackspace, HCL America, Lenovo, Wells Fargo, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
