Healthy Cities: Healthy Women Conference Presented by the University of Pennsylvania Explores Impact of Urban Environments on Women’s Health

November 28th Conference Highlights the Importance of Designing Cities with a Gender Perspective to Create Safer and Healthier Environments

Los Angeles, CA, November 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Who: Halle Berry, Academy Award-winning actress and activist; Jonathan Fielding, Director, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and Health Officer, Los Angeles County; Afaf I. Meleis, Dean of Penn’s School of Nursing; and Robert K. Ross, President and CEO of the California Endowment.

Event will also feature representatives from local non-profit organizations. Those scheduled to participate include: American Red Cross, Girls and Gangs, I AM THAT GIRL, Inner-City Arts, Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, L.A. Family Housing, Minds Matter LA, Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, and Union Station Homeless Services.

What: Event will highlight issues including trafficking and slavery, urban domestic violence, food security and availability, access to community-based health care services, urban healthy living, safe neighborhoods, empowering women and designing cities with a gender perspective.
