Bus to Show Nonprofit to Host Inaugural Fall Gala to Help Reduce Intoxicated Driving
Bus to Show, a nonprofit that reduces intoxicated driving by organizing bus transportation will hold gala on 11/29/12 in search of sponsors for the 2013 concert season.
Boulder, CO, November 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Bus to Show, inc., a Colorado-formed nonprofit corporation dedicated to reducing intoxicated driving has partnered with Boulder-based 501(c)(3) Thrive Nonprofit to put on its inaugural fall gala event. Funds raised as a result of this event will help offset the cost of organizing and hiring bus transportation to and from high-risk outings such as concerts and sporting events. Additionally the Fall Gala will serve to promote awareness of Bus to Show’s service, its mission, and share its phenomenal success with the greater community.
Simply titled, Bus to Show Fall Gala, the 2012 event will be held at Rembrandt Yard, the beautiful 2 story art gallery in downtown Boulder, which has generously donated toward the expense of the event. Hosting the celebration and guiding patrons through the evening will be Colorado music journalism pioneer, Brian F. Johnson, Editor-in-chief, as well as Founder and Owner of the Marquee Magazine.
This semi-formal affair is slated for 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012. Guests will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, an open bar of local beer and wine, dancing and live music by a myriad of local and visiting artists including Sunsquabi, Snubluck, and Fyn Mistral, with opportunities to bid on silent auction items throughout the night. Donations and pledges to the silent auction are being accepted until Wednesday 11/28/12. Already included in the auction are a diverse range of items from restaurant gift certificates to spa and health packages and luxury getaways, to lift tickets, concert tickets and streetwear by local and national designers.
Gala tickets starting at $20 can be purchased at bustoshow.org, or at the door on the night of the event for $25. Tax-exempt sponsorship opportunities are also available online, or by emailing community@bustoshow.org, or by calling 323.RIDE111(323.743.3111). The most generous corporate sponsors will have the opportunity to receive sponsor recognition in the form of branding on the outside of high-profile, high use buses in any of the cities in Colorado, Kansas, or Texas where Bus to Show currently has a presence, or in the Bay Area of California, which is next in line to receive the organization’s assistance.
About Bus to Show
Originally a program within The Basics Fund, a nonprofit that formed in 2007 to provide pro-bono promotional services and benefits to artists, Bus to Show split off and formed as its own entity in 2009, in order to more aggressively pursue the mission of reducing intoxicated driving.
Since its original inception in 2007, DUIs in its home city of Boulder, CO not only reversed their previously upward trend but have actually declined each year in corresponding proportion to the number of rides Bus to Show has organized. According to the Boulder Police Crime Statistics, there were 1048 DUis in 2006, and only 671 in 2011, a reduction of 377 DUIs, or over 36%. Although Bus to Show does not assume full credit for the decrease, it’s solution oriented harm reduction approach is undoubtedly a healthy contributor, considering that it organizes transportation for over 100 events a year in Colorado, often for over 400 partying passengers in a single day, enabling over 8000 individual rides for almost 1000 active members in 2012.
In addition to its direct mission, Bus to Show benefits the communities it serves because it inherently reduces the environmental impact of large events. In 2010 it saved a conservatively estimated 2000+ gallons of fuel, when compared with what its members would have burned had they carpooled in groups of four in vehicles that averaged 20 MPG. The buses predominantly use B20 biodiesel, and one of them is fueled by clean-burning propane.
Perhaps the most important social impact of Bus to Show is the community that develops as a result of its service. Allowing small and large groups of people to come together on a bus to celebrate and participate in shared passions has proven to be an unfailing recipe for building a strong community of responsible arts and sports enthusiasts. At the Fall Gala, Bus to Show hopes to extend that welcoming atmosphere to members of the greater community who may not have occasion to use the service directly, but whose shared passion for philanthropy and innovative nonprofit causes will bring them together for an evening of celebration and giving.
