iPhone 5 Support in Version 2.9 of the Viewfinder Apps
Pomaz, Hungary, November 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- DIRE Studio announces iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th generation support in their Viewfinder family of apps.
Besides the ability to utilize cameras in these two new devices, Version 2.9, which is available immediately from the App Store, also takes advantage of the 4" screen found on both the iPhone 5 and on the new iPod touch. People, such as filmmakers, who are working with wide aspect ratios will find the larger screen especially valuable. Every part of the app, not just the main viewer, was modified to work seamlessly with the larger screen: users will see more thumbnails in the Album, or be able to check larger parts of the map, for example.
They are also pleased to announce the development of native support for iPads.
"My opinion on supporting iPads was simple: do it as a best effort (means proper camera measurements but running in iPhone compatibility mode), which means that Viewfinder is not a first order iPad citizen at the moment. Mainly because I found it awkward to use the largish tablet for this type of work. We had no push from our user base to move in that direction, either." - Says Laszlo Pusztai, the creator of Viewfinder.
The arrival of iPad mini changed that opinion, according to Pusztai: "The screen is just 0.2" shy of a 5x7" large format sheet film and the device has a pretty manageable size and weight. Making it the ideal digital ground glass - large enough for visual work and small and light enough to carry around in the backpack."
The existing editions will gain native iPad support in the form of becoming universal apps. There will be no separate editions to purchase. Availability will be announced separately at a later data.
Device Requirements
Viewfinder is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch 4th generation and iPod touch 5th generation. Works with iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation in iPhone compatibility mode. Requires iOS 5.0 or later.
Pricing and Availability
The Basic edition sells for $11.99, Pro edition for $19.99 and Cine edition for $23.99. All three are available from the iTunes App Store. Existing users can upgrade to this new version free of charge. Promo codes are available for qualified reviewers. Please specify the website or blog you represent when making your request.
