Fuentek President Laura Schoppe Presented at Department of Defense Tech Transfer Planning Meeting
Schoppe Led Presentations on AUTM’s Global Technology Portal and on Social Media Use Among Tech Transfer Offices.
Apex, NC, November 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Fuentek, LLC (http://www.fuentek.com), a local technology transfer consulting firm, has announced that president Laura Schoppe presented at the Department of Defense Technology Transfer Integrated Planning Team meeting in Tucson, Arizona this week. Schoppe focused on the Global Technology Portal (GTP) offered by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and effective uses of social media for tech transfer professionals. Schoppe is a recognized leader in social media strategy in the tech transfer industry and serves as the vice president of strategic alliances on the AUTM board, where she was instrumental in the development of the GTP.
AUTM provides the GTP to facilitate networking, partnership, and licensing deals among corporations and universities as well as government and nonprofit research labs. Currently the GTP has more than 22,000 technology listings and offers information on lab capabilities and descriptions of research needs and challenges. During her presentation, Schoppe shared tips with DoD tech transfer professionals about ways they can utilize this portal to help market technologies and capabilities.
Along with Abby Boggs, IP administrator at Air Force Research Laboratory, Schoppe also presented on social media usage by technology transfer offices. Fuentek is known for its extensive background in social media strategy and effectiveness for clients. Schoppe and Boggs discussed exactly what to do – and what not to do – when building an online profile, writing blogs, tweeting, growing a following, and more. They shared specific case studies of a few laboratories’ forays into utilizing social media as a technology transfer tool.
The Technology Transfer Integrated Planning Team provides an open forum for DoD tech transfer professionals to participate in developing guidance, sharing lessons learned and best practices, resolving problem areas, and developing a consensus on issues of concern. This year’s meeting focused on how tech transfer professionals fuel the delivery of innovative products to the warfighter and the U.S. marketplace.

“I was glad to have the chance to share Fuentek’s social media experiences and insights with DoD’s tech transfer community,” said Schoppe. “I also was pleased to see their interest in AUTM’s Global Technology Portal. Now that the GTP is available to government agencies, it is a great tool for DoD to promote tech transfer and licensing opportunities as well as to find technical solutions to their needs and challenges.”
