“Bible Storyland” Awarded Best Documentary Film at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival
Film about never-built 1960’s theme park to hold West Coast Premiere in Hollywood, CA.
Los Angeles, CA, November 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The producers of "Bible Storyland" announced their film’s West Coast Premiere on December 3rd at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (HRIFF) where they have been awarded the honor for Best Documentary Film. Stephanie Hubbard (director), James Conant (cinematographer), Harvey Jordan (subject of the film), and Charles Phoenix (retro pop culture humorist) will attend the screening and participate in a Q&A session afterward.
In "Bible Storyland," Los Angeles art dealer Harvey Jordan, feeling trapped in his life and fearing his mortality, embarks on an epic quest to uncover the mysteries of a never-built 1960's theme park. Along the way, Jordan's story serves up an engaging exploration of the intersection of pop culture and religion, as it humorously illustrates the challenges of modern life and long-term relationships. Director Stephanie Hubbard layers stop-motion animation and classic cinema into this fun, quirky documentary as she explores a myriad of interrelated subjects.
“We’re very honored and grateful to the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival for this award," enthused Hubbard. "We made and shot the film here in Southern California, and we believe Los Angeles audiences will love it. People don't usually think of documentaries as fun, weird and uplifting,” she says, "but this one is!" Hubbard is an award-winning documentary editor whose films have won festival awards worldwide, and whose TV shows have aired on PBS, the Discovery Channel and the History Channel.
"Bible Storyland" features retro pop culture humorist Charles Phoenix, a grandson of Jack Haley (“The Wizard of Oz”), and Jordan's wife, the prolific voice actor Debi Derryberry (Jimmy Neutron), among others. Jordan’s journey through retro-Americana brings to light little known history related to Disneyland, “The Wizard of Oz”, and Old Hollywood. View the trailer and more at www.BibleStorylandMovie.com.
Screening: Monday, December 3rd at 5pm at the New Beverly Cinema, 7165 W. Beverly Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90036. For tickets and more information, visit www.hollywoodreelindependentfilmfestival.com.
