Marlborough Business Owners, Residents Participate in Route 20 Forum
A public meeting opens the way for enhancing a major roadway in the city
Marlborough, MA, November 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has gathered input from local businesses and residents about their views and ideas for enhancing the strip of Route 20 East between the Farm Road intersection and the Sudbury line. More than two dozen people participated in the wide-ranging, public meeting on November 15.
The City of Marlborough and the MEDC are working with professional consultants from Vanasse Hangen Brustlin to address various ideas for this section of the city, including zoning and regulatory changes, infrastructure improvements, and streetscaping. The enhancements could lead to increased interest by businesses in this highly visible section of Marlborough used by a large population for their housing, shopping, and commuter needs.
“We have a lot of good businesses in this area that will continue to flourish here,” said Jeffrey Batta, dealer principal of Marlboro Nissan, a franchise that has been located on Boston Post Road (Route 20) for nearly four decades. “These discussions are a good starting point toward making changes that will benefit these businesses and Marlborough overall.”
This 1.5-mile stretch of Route 20 includes housing, restaurants, retail stores, and a Raytheon facility. The consultants facilitated the discussion at Stephen Anthony’s Restaurant, 999 Boston Post Road East.
MEDC welcomes interested parties to continue providing feedback on this area of the city by e-mailing info@marlboroughedc.com.
