Just for Kids in Winter – the Kids’N’Snow Weekends - West Yellowstone Montana November 23rd, 2012–March 3rd, 2013
West Yellowstone, MT, November 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Take a break from the Holiday rush and celebrate the wonders of winter with your children and grandchildren at the Kids ‘N’ Snow kickoff event November 23rd, 2012 in West Yellowstone, Montana. Join the fun from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the West Yellowstone Rendezvous Ski Trailhead Building (located at the corner of Geyser Street and Obsidian Avenue, southwest corner of West Yellowstone).
Warm-up with hot beverages, toast some marshmallows, and make your own s'mores. All the fixings provided. Everyone is invited including racers and coaches from the annual West Yellowstone Ski Festival. After s'mores, head over to the Holiday Inn and walk through the Yellowstone Nordic Ski Festival Indoor EXPO from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
The Kids'N'Snow program is offered one weekend each month during the winter. The program was created to offer kids the opportunity to get outside and try new winter activities, experience Yellowstone in winter, take winter kid's classes at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, free movies, and more. Each weekend varies by activities and schedule so many families come for multiple weekends. Some activities have limited space so pre-registration is offered.
The first full weekend, December 15-16th , 2012 includes the annual West Yellowstone Rodeo Run Dog Sled Races. Families have a chance to meet the mushers and their teams as they ready for races and even get their own free sled dog ride on Sunday morning.
The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center offers a special winter learning class each day through the weekend. The classes are interactive and hands-on. There will also be a Cross Country ski games where kids can learn the FUN-damentals of nordic skiing. Free use of ice skates are part of the Saturday evening free S'mores & Sledding & More activity.
One of the most popular activities is the "Snowcoach Sampler." Local West Yellowstone snowcoach tour companies offer a 2 1/2 hour ride over the snow into Yellowstone Park. No charge for the sample but a Yellowstone Park pass is required.
If you can’t make it in December, or you just want to do it again come to the Kids ‘N’ Snow weekend on January 18th-19th, 2013 with more events for the entire family. More S'mores, skating, samplers, sled dog rides, a free "Yellowstone" movie at the IMAX, a chance to try out a cross country ski race with the Saturday morning SPAM cup, talks by Yellowstone rangers, and other activities too.
The February 2-3, 2013 Kids'N'Snow Weekend program features a Saturday morning ice fishing clinic just for kids sponsored by NAIFC/Cabela's. Any kid is welcome to participate and receives their own rod & tackle from HT Enterprises, in-house instruction from the pro's, then can head out to the ice to practice with local experts. And, all the rest!
The March Kids'N'Snow Weekend, March 2-3, 2013, includes a full schedule of activities with a special day of cross country ski games and lessons with the annual Youth Ski Festival on Sunday, February 3rd, 2013.
Kids’N’Snow headquarters will be located at the West Yellowstone Visitor Center, 30 Yellowstone Avenue, and open from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Here, kids can pick up their “Passport” that contains a printed schedule and map. After completing three activities, kids can come back for their own Kids'N'Snow patch.
