Edward Lehman Appointed as Guest Professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Law
Beijing, China, July 19, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Mr. Edward Lehman has been officially appointed as a Guest Professor at the prestigious Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Law, for a period of 3 years, starting on June 8, 2007.
Mr. Lehman, who is currently the Managing Director of Lehman, Lee & Xu, has decided to make a return to Shanghai to manage the firm’s 8 strong offices within the Mainland, Macao, Hong Kong, Mongolia and Chicago Liaison office from this dynamic city situated on the east coast of China.
Edward, a graduate of DePauw University (BS) in 1982, embarked on his legal education respectively at the University of Notre Dame College of Law and at the Concanon Program of International Law at London, England, receiving an International Law Certificate (1985). He then received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1986. He was admitted to the bar in the United States in Illinois (1986); Illinois Supreme Court (1986); U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar (1986); U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit (1986); China, visiting foreign lawyer/foreign legal expert (1987-present); United States Court of International Trade (2006); United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (2006); United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin (2006); United States Tax Court (2006); United States Supreme Court (2007).
Being a pioneer foreign legal expert in the People's Republic of China in the 1980’s, amongst others, he serves as a Legal Advisor for the Foreign Research-based Pharmaceutical Industry Association "FRPIA" (1996-present); China International Franchisors Association "CIFA" (1996-present); China Chainstore and Franchise Association "CCFA" (1997-present); Young Presidents Organization (2006-present); Vice Chair, American Bar Association "ABA", China Committee (2001-present). He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Society, the National Association of Patent Practitioners and the China Intellectual Property Society.
Mr. Lehman has a special interest in developing and supporting continuing education for legal scholars / practitioners both in China and abroad. In addition to his latest appointment as the Guest Professor at Jiao Tong University, he has also been associated with the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Xavier University, and has been an associate professor of law at Macau University of Science and Technology in the past few years.
