Young Entrepreneurs Take a Stand
Technology Company Postcode Anywhere has invited Young Enterprise students from The Chantry, Martley to sell their wares in a business environment.
Worcester, United Kingdom, November 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Members of Littlebig Enterprise set up their stand at the Hallow-based company as a trial run before Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fayre. The event is one of the main selling opportunities in the Young Enterprise calendar.
Postcode Anywhere has been supporting Young Enterprise for several years now. Not only does the company help by contributing towards funding Company Programme, but it also provides business advisors.
This academic year (2012/2013) senior developer Mike Cook and marketing assistant and events co-ordinator Laura White, have been pleased to offer invaluable mentorship to the students at The Chantry.
Postcode Anywhere’s managing director Guy Mucklow feels very strongly about supporting enterprise initiatives in the county and said: “Helping local schools that are involved in Young Enterprise delivers a range of benefits. For example it enables members of our team to develop mentorship and leadership skills which are very important for personal career advancement. Often managing people can be a challenging and daunting prospect for inexperienced members of staff.
“We are also keen to nurture entrepreneurial skills such as initiative, customer communication and innovative thinking as well as helping students to understand the basics of good business. They are our potential employees and investment in their development now will help to deliver future benefits for us as an expanding local employer.”
Young Enterprise is a registered charity that delivers enterprise education to students all over the country. Company Programme, its flagship learning experience is a live business scenario devised to teach young people the skills for successful entrepreneurship. The year ten students from The Chantry are amongst the youngest participating in the programme in South Worcestershire.
Littlebig Enterprises sold wooden items made from off-cuts including chopping boards, bird boxes and innovatively designed vertical and horizontal wine racks.
Other items for sale included clocks and bowls made from old vinyl records so essentially all of the company’s products have been produced from recycled and reclaimed material.
Managing director Isobel Griffiths said: “We are so pleased that Postcode Anywhere has provided us with a selling opportunity. Our business advisors have been so supportive and allowing us to exhibit and sell our products in a friendly environment will give us more confidence and help us to develop and refine our selling and customer service skills before the Victorian Christmas Fayre event.”
