Boston, MA, November 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Santa’s Ambassador Brings Holiday Cheer to the Children of Boston Children’s Hospital

Bestselling The Elf on the Shelf® Co-Author Carol Aebersold Visits with Patients and Families

Carol Aebersold, co-author of bestselling children’s book The Elf on the Shelf® and executive producer of An Elf’s StoryTM, will bring holiday cheer to the children of Boston Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115, on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, from 1pm to 2:30pm.

As an important stop in her nine-city holiday tour through New England, Aebersold will meet bedside with patients of Boston Children’s to share the holiday magic of her family tradition, on which the popular book The Elf on the Shelf® is based. She will also read to patients and families in the hospital’s Patient Entertainment Center, as well as screen a DVD of network broadcast animated feature An Elf’s StoryTM.

Aebersold’s visit kicks off the holiday season for Boston’s Children’s Hospital, a 395-licensed bed facility, rated for 21 consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's top hospitals specializing in pediatric care. The hospital is home to the world's largest research enterprise based at a pediatric medical center. Discoveries have benefited children and adults since 1869.

“I’m excited to be part of the holiday festivities planned by Boston Children’s for their patients,” said Carol Aebersold. “As a mother and grandmother, I know that Boston’s Children’s Hospital is so very important in returning hope to mothers and grandmothers across the country who find their child in need of special care. I am deeply honored by this opportunity to help bring holiday cheer to those children who may not be able to share it within their own homes this year.”

While in the Boston area, Aebersold will also host meet and greets with book readings at other Massachusetts locations. Children and parents alike are invited to attend one of these locations for a fun-filled day as Carol reads from her classic book and hears Christmas wishes to take back to Santa.

About The Elf on the Shelf®
The Elf on the Shelf® tells the story of a Scout Elf, who is charged with keeping an eye on the children of his adopted family. Every night, through Christmas magic, the Elf flies back to the North Pole to report to Santa whether the children have been naughty or nice. As the Elf magically appears at the beginning of the holiday season to begin his duties, so he magically disappears after the holidays, not to be seen again until the following year.

Since its inception in 2005, The Elf on the Shelf® has become an international phenomenon, and an important part of Christmas celebrations in the homes of families worldwide. In 2011, the book was turned into Christmas animated feature An Elf’s StoryTM, which broadcasts annually on CBS. This year, the Scout Elf makes his biggest debut yet as a balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He is the first character from a self-published book since 1901 to be accepted in the parade’s 86 year history.
