HotSpring Hot Tub Auction Benefits Peterborough Children’s Ward
A luxury Limelight Glow hot tub donated by HotSpring World recently raised over £5,000 for the Amazon Children’s Ward at Peterborough City Hospital in a charity auction held as part of the Amazon Fundraising Ball.

A luxury Limelight Glow hot tub donated by HotSpring World recently raised over £5,000 for the Amazon Children’s Ward at Peterborough City Hospital in a charity auction held as part of the Amazon Fundraising Ball.
The Amazon ball was held on Saturday, 10th November at the Peterborough Arena, and was organised by Deputy sister Laura Stent and a team of nurses from the ward, in order to raise funds to enable the purchase of play equipment and home from home comforts in order to improve the environment for children and their families. Over 500 tickets were sold for the packed evening of entertainment and fundraising, and the event raised over a whopping £27,000 in total.
As well as HotSpring World, many other local businesses generously donated prizes for the charity auction. Other local firms donated their services to help make the event a success, such as Gildenburgh Ltd who designed and printed tickets and posters for the ball and Asys Events, who provided technical production for the night. Motor City Vipers, a local band, also provided live entertainment during the evening.
Billy Harbison, showroom manager of HotSpring World Peterborough (located at the Dobbies Garden Centre) was invited to visit the children’s ward. Billy said, “My visit to the ward was quite an emotional one. Seeing the children there, who were so poorly, really made me count my blessings. We took some of our HotSpring ducks to help cheer them up a bit. Seeing those sick children made me more determined to do a good job for this charity evening. Before the auction started, Jonathan and Laura were hoping to raise at least £5000. We were absolutely thrilled that the hot tub alone raised £5300 with a total of just over £27,000 raised in total that evening.”
HotSpring World’s Lynda Smart said, “When we were first approached in June by Laura Stent of Peterborough City Hospital to see if we could assist with a donation towards their Amazon children’s ward charity auction we were eager to help out. About the Amazon Ward and Jungle Assessment Unit :
These facilities provide a comprehensive paediatric medical and surgical emergency and elective service for all children up to the age of 16 who are referred via A&E, their GP, The Walk-in Centre, the police, social workers, health visitors, midwives and school teachers.
The service provides specialist orthopaedic surgery, paediatric urology and ENT surgery and some specialist maxillo-facial surgery for children up to the age of 16.
Children with chronic disease continue to receive paediatric care beyond the age of 16 should this be required. The paediatric HDU facility is used to care for very sick children.
