Coach and Consultant Peacefully Co-Exist

A business coach and consultant team up to help executives and leadership teams become successful.

New York, NY, November 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- It’s common knowledge that consultants provide answers and professional advice while coaches watch and listen and then direct, train, and nurture.

While each brings value to the entrepreneurial table, the thought of merging or consolidating their distinctly different styles and methodologies to problem solving and change often seems incompatible, if not impossible.

But Gil Effron, a business and marketing consultant with 35 years of experience, and Rick Raymond, a certified business coach with 28 years of experience, have not only found a way to co-exist peacefully but also to bring tremendous value to business owners, leadership teams and family businesses by blending their differing approaches.

Working together under the umbrella of The Growth Team, the duo is helping executives and leadership teams tackle urgent challenges, improve organizational efficiency and map successful strategies for moving forward.

According to co-founder Effron, The Growth Team operates on three fundamental principles. “Our effectiveness depends on our flexibility to respond practically instantly to the needs of the business. Sometimes it’s a crisis of the day. At other times, it’s a long-standing issue. First and foremost, we support and work for the wellbeing of the business as a whole.”

The second fundamental, according to co-founder Raymond, is “starting with the end in mind.” He describes this as one of the habits of highly effective people described by Steven Covey in his seminal book. “A business needs to have a focus on the future,” he said, “and on what they want to achieve both as a team, for their clients, and individually for themselves.” Raymond states, time and again, he has found that when a team is stuck, focusing on goals rather than details yields significant breakthroughs.

“Our third principle is that, as tempting as it is, that The Growth Team does not wish to become or remain a permanent fixture within an organization. We limit our engagement to six months of concentrated activity in which we are ‘teaching clients how to fish, not giving them fish,’” Effron said.

Working with Show+Tell, a New York City based technology company that lights up Times Square with such notables as the M&M sign, ABC-TV, and numerous more modest digital sign networks throughout the U.S., The Growth Team has touched every department and every aspect of the business.

“Prior to The Growth Team coming on board, we had a general direction of where we were headed,” said Phil Lenger, President of Show+Tell, “but we didn’t have a vision. Today, we not only have a 20-year vision, but thanks to The Growth Team, we’re seeing progress in virtually every department of our business from sales and marketing and happier clients to more engaged employees, extraordinary communication between key people and our various departments, and profitability. And morale is at an all time high.”

In addition to their hands-on activities with their clients, Effron and Raymond utilize a number of other specialized team members. These are specialists and professionals representing such disciplines as finance, HR, mergers and acquisitions, mediation, and systems, processes and procedures.

When asked what The Growth Team does best, Effron said, “We get results and it doesn’t matter if we’re dealing with a troubled business that’s about to implode or a business that is bursting at the seams as a result of rapid growth.”
