New BTU/Energy Meter Delivers Low Cost Monitoring of Heating/Cooling Process Systems
Built-in Modbus communications allow easy interface with building/process automation systems.
Hudson, MA, November 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Clark Solutions introduces its Model DN-EM Energy Flow Monitor. The DN-EM is an economical energy flow monitor intended for applications in energy transfer and in heating/cooling systems such as heating and cooling loops, heat recovery applications, efficiency measurement/verification systems, solar/geothermal systems, and other applications. DN-EM Energy Flow Monitors are designed with flow ranges from 0.25 to 22.50 gpm; in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, or 3/4 in. piping; and measure compatible fluids with temperatures to 212° F (100°C).
DN-EM Energy Flow Monitors calculate energy use based on the mass volume of liquid passing through the system and the difference in temperature between the supply and return lines. The volume of liquid is measured by means of a pulse-generating vortex flow transmitter. An RTD sensor built into the flowmeter measures temperature at the meter, and the remote temperature is measured by means of a precision RTD sensor mounted in a pipe tee. A scaled pulse output is provided and can be configured to report volume flow rate, mass flow rate, or unit of energy. Modbus 485 communications provide an interface with building automation, process control, or other monitoring systems. No special software is required to operate DN-EM Energy Flow Monitors. Communication parameters can be set at the factory or from a Modbus Master over the RS-485 network.
Model DN-EM Energy Flow Monitors utilize non-volatile memory to record flow and energy, with readings updated every ten minutes. These values are true current values with the last stored value being added to the current accumulated value when the applicable register is read.
Units of measurement for Model DN-EM Energy Flow Monitors include flow rate in units of Gals/Min, Liters/Min, Liters/Sec; mass flow in units of Lbs/Min, Kgs/Min; energy rate in units of BTU/Min, kBTU/Min, kBTU/Hr, KW; total flow in units of Gallons, Liters, Cubic Meters; total energy in units of kBTU, KW-HRS; and temperature in either °F or °C. Model DN-EM Energy Flow Monitors are available for under $600.
