Gold Seal Certification Program Changes for 2013

Gold Seal Certification program, the leading certification program for Canadian construction management professionals such as estimators, superintendents, project managers and safety coordinators, announced today changes effective January 1, 2013.

Ottawa, Canada, November 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Changes to Educational Requirements

For the Gold Seal Certification (GSC) applicants including Gold Seal Interns, credits for the formal education will be allocated as follows:

High school 5 credits
Technician/technologist diploma 25 credits
Technician/technologist degree 30 credits
University degree (industry related) 35 credits
Construction management degree program 50 credits

“The program changes with the times. Basically we are acknowledging the changes that are happening in the educational field by adding credits for a technician/technologist degree and a construction management degree program,” said Stephanie Wallace, manager, Gold Seal. “We also now give an additional five credits for industry-related university degrees,” continued Stephanie.

Changes to Professional, Gold Seal Certified Designation Requirements

Barry Brown, chair of CCA’s Gold Seal Committee wants to highlight the changes for the Professional, Gold Seal Certified (P.GSC ) designation: “If you are already Gold Seal Certified (GSC) and would like to upgrade your credentials, stay relevant and continue developing your skills in the management of construction – you should consider P.GSC.”

The P.GSC requirements are changing for 2013. Starting in January 2013, the P.GSC designation will be valid for two years with biennial renewal. Candidates will qualify based on hours of employment and professional development (five categories). The application fee has been reduced to $100/2 years + applicable taxes.
