Carmen Sandiego Composer Sean Altman Proves His Theme Song is More Popular Than Billboard #1 Hits

New York, NY, December 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Singer-songwriter Sean Altman has taken to the streets of NYC’s Times Square to test the theory that his original theme song “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” is more popular than Billboard #1 hits.

Altman approached hundreds of people of all ages and demographics to sing one question: “Where in the world is ______ ________?” The people shouted, “Carmen Sandiego!” Altman also tested passersby on Billboard #1 hits from Lady Gaga, Adele, Elvis, The Beatles, Bon Jovi, Justin Bieber and more. Carmen Sandiego won, handily.

What is Carmen Sandiego? For five years and 295 episodes in the mid-1990s, Altman's former group Rockapella was the house band on the award-winning PBS series "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?". Chelsea Clinton watched it in the White House, Joe Biden guested on the show, Saturday Night Live and Jimmy Fallon parodied the song (last year!), Matt Lauer licensed the song, Glenn Beck infringed upon it, J-Lo wants to make the Carmen Sandiego movie, and now the 20-year-old theme song, penned by Sean Altman and pal David Yazbek, is proven to be more popular than Billboard #1 Hits!

About Sean Altman:
Ex-Rockapella star Sean Altman is "tuneful and sharply witty" (Los Angeles Times) and "relentlessly clever" (Chicago Tribune), with “catchy melodies, clever arrangements and lyrics that yield satiric gems” (Washington Post), combining "the tunefulness of the Beatles and the spot-on wit of Tom Lehrer” (Boston Globe) with a “silky tenor voice that produced chills” (New York Times). Altman, widely regarded as “the Father of Modern A Capella”, co-founded Rockapella and led that pioneering vocal group through its heyday on the Emmy-winning PBS-TV series "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?” for which Altman wrote the ubiquitous theme song. He currently records and performs a cappella with The GrooveBarbers, original pop songs on guitar as a solo artist, original comedy songs as JEWMONGOUS, and vocal standards at the bedside of hospital patients as a volunteer with Musicians on Call. JEWMONGOUS tours the northeast in December. www.jewmongous.com
