Online Video Revenue Equals Donations for Global Poverty Project

Los Angeles, CA, December 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- VEIL lead vocalist Veronika Salvador announced that the band will be donating advertising revenue from video views to the Global Poverty Project. “For people who would like to donate but may not have the money, this is a simple way for them to do so,” says Salvador. “Every time somebody watches one of the videos we have posted on Muzu we will donate our share of the advertising profit to the Global Poverty Project.”

The band’s representative Dan McGarr explains, “By posting on Muzu we are able to donate around $5.00 (USD) per 1,000 views. This figure includes revenue that comes from sites that feature Muzu videos such as Metacafe, Dailymail and Dshini. We have already reached 70,000 combined views of Veil’s online videos and Muzu has delivered the best monetization results.”

The Global Poverty Project first caught VEIL’s attention when the organization hosted a Central Park concert earlier this year that featured Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters and The Black Keys. The event generated awareness of global poverty while promoting Global Poverty Project’s mission, "to see the end of extreme poverty within a single generation." This prompted VEIL to donate label profits and artist royalties from their debut single “E-Sahka” to the Global Poverty Project.

McGarr says, “We have been coordinating with Judith Rowland at Global Poverty and she has been very supportive of the ideas we have brought to the table. This band was formed around the idea of giving back and trying to do something different, the Global Poverty Project fits perfectly with what Veil has set out to do.”

Band member A.K.I. Jones says, “The people in this band have done the whole major project thing with artists ranging from ‘N Sync to Prince. While some of the benefits of success are great for us, the question is now how can we expand that to benefit others? Look, we decided to do this from the ground up like any other band starting out would do. That includes keeping our personal identities out of the equation (the band members use pseudonyms) as well as not going through the channels we know. We are trying to create new channels, that do new things, like make a difference.”
