Happier Staff When Companies Treat Them Like Footballers

The UK has seen a downturn in staff retention levels across both Private and Public sectors. A small company in Yorkshire is fighting the trend by winning big and promoting from within.

Leeds, United Kingdom, December 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Since the start of 2012, staff morale has been lower in the UK than in previous years due to the fear factor of the employment market, the threat of double dip recession and the increased levels of competition. Retention has become more difficult since 2009 and continues to make employers working environments less productive. Two-thirds (66%) of organisations report that they experienced difficulties in retaining staff during the previous year.

Recruitment experts have noticed a buck in the trends with companies who look closer at company culture and make important changes to how people feel within their business. Online recruitment advertising specialists, Online Resourcing, proved that internal personal investment increases retention. In the past 2 years the company has maintained 96% retention. Newly promoted Sales Director, Jonathan Fieldhouse as been with Online Resourcing since 2008 and has seen how internal development breeds positivity, creativity and drives results.

In relation to staff retention, Jonathan Fieldhouse, Sales Director commented:
“Internal investment and belief in staff has been the key to our success. It is true that a positive environment allows for personal development. I was brought on to develop sales and with the support of management team I grew accounts like Nestlé, Mars and Persimmon Homes, honed my skills and now set the sales strategy for future growth as the company Sales Director.”

Addressing this need for knowledge, Online Resourcing’s top tips for staff retention include openness to employees, keenness to develop staff’s current skills and most importantly to take the time to acknowledge key skills and strengths.

Managing Director, Oliver Adderley commented: “Managing your staff is like managing a football team, it is all about putting key players in their strongest position.”
