Old Chatham Golf Club Golf Professionals Awarded 2012 Carolinas PGA Honors
Director Of Operations and First Assistant Honored by the CPGA for Their Contributions to The Golf Industry in the Carolinas
Durham, NC, December 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Old Chatham Golf Club (http://www.oldchathamgolf.org), a prestigious, Triangle-based golf club, has announced that John Marino, director of operations, and Brian Stewart, first assistant, were named Carolinas PGA Section special awards and honors winners. Marino was awarded the Bill Strausbaugh Award, an award presented to a PGA Professional who, through their day-to-day efforts have distinguished themselves by mentoring their fellow PGA Professionals in improving their employment situations and through service to the community. Stewart was named Assistant Professional of the Year, an award given to the Class A-8 Assistant Professional who exhibits the promise and dedication that will lead others into the coming years.
The Carolinas PGA Section Awards and Honors are distributed each year to the 10 Carolinas PGA Professionals who not only excel in their fields of expertise, but also contribute to the growth of the game in the Carolinas. Honor recipients have dedicated themselves to maintaining the integrity of the golf industry, and exemplify what it means to be a PGA Professional. The 10 professionals will be recognized at the 20th Annual Special Awards and Honors Ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Marino currently serves as Secretary of the Carolinas PGA Section. Before he was elected as Secretary, Marino served as the Area IX Director for almost six years. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the First Tee of the Triangle. Stewart currently serves as the President of the Carolinas PGA Assistant Association Program. During 2012, the CPGA Assistants’ Association held nine tournaments with steady participation of around 25 players.
