Cary, NC, December 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Smart Moms is pleased to announce that Garla Smith was named the 2011-2012 Career Woman of the Year by Business and Professional Woman North Carolina (BPW/NC).
In October 2011, Ms. Smith was selected BPW/Raleigh’s 2011 Career Woman of the Year. BPW/NC selects an overall Woman of the Year from among its 22 clubs statewide. The latest honor was bestowed on Ms. Smith at the BPW/NC Women Enlightened and Empowered Event in Faison, NC.
BPW judges nominees by how well they:

· Bring about a spirit of cooperation among business and professional women
· Promote the interests of business and professional women
· Extend opportunities to women through education along the lines of industrial, scientific and vocational activities
Ms. Smith is owner and president of Smart Moms, a Cary, NC, based recruiting company that helps businesses fill part-time, telecommuting and contract positions with skilled moms and dads. Smart Moms also provides resources such as career coaching, including mock interviewing, resume writing and making sense of today’s job search process. “Garla's nomination was most impressive. She had the resilience to take a difficult situation and completely transform her life and the lives of hundreds of women in North Carolina. Garla's dedication and strength are amazing,” says Michelle Evans, BPW/NC Past State President.
Previous Career Woman of the Year nominees and winners were physicians, educators, executives, politicians, lawyers, artists, human service workers, entrepreneurs, and law enforcement officers.
