The 2013 Industry Briefing is set for January 23-25, 2013 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va.
Ashburn, VA, December 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission‐critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security, is pleased to announce geographic information systems industry leader Esri will be the Platinum Sponsor of the Institute’s signature annual event. The 2013 Industry Briefing is set for January 23-25, 2013 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va.
The Briefing, which is the only annual conference that focuses on information sharing for the criminal justice and public safety communities, will cast a spotlight on national standards this year, as well. The tracks for this year’s Briefing sessions are Big Data, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Analytics for Investigation, and High Priority Initiatives for the Justice Community.
Slated to present are Denise O’Donnell, Director, Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice; Richard Spires, Chief Information Officer, Department of Homeland Security; Kshemendra Paul, Program Manager, Information Sharing Environment, Office of the Director of National Intelligence; Kevin Plexico and Jeff Webster, Deltek; and IT experts from IBM, BAE Systems, Cisco, Esri, and other companies.
Scheduled sessions include Securing the Mobile World, The Role of Big Data in Corrections, Geospatial Place-Based Theory, and Automation of Major Case Print Matching in AFIS. For a dash of levity, Marlene Martineau of New Dawn Technologies will host a game show on the role of courts in integrated justice projects. Information for that session, “I'll Take Courts for $1000, Alex," will be drawn from the recent Courts 101 white paper published by the IJIS Institute’s Courts Advisory Committee.
Steve Ambrosini, executive director of The IJIS Institute said, “The 2013 Industry Briefing promises to be another great meeting of the minds of our industry. Given the immense challenges of our time – including fiscal fears, public safety, and cyber security – information sharing can do much to predict and prevent crime, while also reducing costs. The IJIS Institute’s mission can only be achieved if industry and government collaborate on creating national standards that will help enable interoperability between jurisdictions and organizations. I’m truly looking forward to this Briefing, and I urge anyone operating in our part of the information sharing industry to join us for a world-class event.”
A draft agenda for the 2013 Industry Briefing is on the IJIS Institute’s website, here. Registration information for the Briefing is here.
