Duquesne Alumni, Mike James of the Rockets Hosts Basketball Camp for Pittsburgh Youth
Duquesne Alumni, Mike James of the Houston Rockets Returns to Host Basketball Camp for Pittsburgh Youth July 23rd – 26th
Pittsburgh, PA, July 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Mike James of the Houston Rockets will host the annual "Mike James Basketball Experience" July 23-26 at Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This week long camp is open to campers ages 8-18 and will strive to improve the on-court performance of all campers by teaching skills needed to develop body and mind awareness, use mental practice and imagery, and manage stress and pressure. Campers are given instruction on ball handling, shooting and passing techniques, offensive and defensive drills, along with hours of hands-on basketball fundamentals. James is personally involved in the planning process, camp operations and hands-on training during each camp.
During the “Life Skills” component of the camp, James has partnered with community leaders, CEO’s, business owners and other professionals to equip each camper with information that assists them with recognizing and handling destructive behavior, building confidence and understanding faith and gratitude.
James feels that experiences such as these can help campers improve their game, but most importantly gain insight on how to succeed in life. James states, “If one kid can get the message that we are trying to convey, then my camp will be a success.”
