Bastian Software Employees Volunteer at Dare to Care Food Bank
Bastian Software Solutions volunteers at local food bank to help sort donated goods.
Louisville, KY, December 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Bastian Software Solutions, a leading provider of supply chain software, recently volunteered at Dare to Care, a local food bank in Louisville. The effort was part of Bastian’s annual volunteer program.
Dare to Care’s mission is to lead the community to feed the Kentuckiana area’s hungry and break the cycle of need. The nonprofit organization receives food from donors and community food drives and purchases food itself when necessary. After sorting the donations, Dare to Care distributes the food to emergency kitchens, shelters and food pantries to ensure the food gets to those who need it most.
“Bastian Software is proud to participate in local volunteer efforts and programs, especially those by organizations such as Dare to Care,” said Damir Kantardzic, president of Bastian Software Solutions. “Being a part of these efforts is a great way to help out in our community, and we are happy to have been part of an admirable cause such as helping to feed those in need.”
As part of the day’s activities, the Bastian Software team worked with Dare to Care staff to transfer and sort cans collected by the food bank. The team worked in two main groups—one working to transfer and organize cans on a conveyor while the others sorted the cans into boxes according to categories designated by Dare to Care. Finally, Bastian team members prepared the boxes for pallets, applied labels and scanned the labels into Dare to Care’s inventory tracking system.
