Within his discussions, he highlights that the ever growing demand for energy is the cause of increased energy prices. Contradictory opinions discuss the advantages of utilizing the green data center concept; an idea not supported by Mr. Gill.
According to Gill, "The trend in greening data centers addresses the management of floorspace, power and cooling, but it doesn't deal with net server energy consumption; if customers can cut down on the number of servers they host, from say 150 to 20, they will consume less energy and cut costs”.
Placing emphasis on the importance of customers utilizing shared services in an effort to minimize server complications as well as the growing monthly energy bills, Gill offers solutions.
