Pianist Eric Ferrand-N’Kaoua of France to Perform at Miami International Piano Festival’s Classical Sundays at Five
Aventura, FL, January 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The second in a series of classical piano concerts presented by the Miami International Piano Festival, “Four Classical Sundays at Five” will feature Eric Ferrand-N’Kaoua of France on Sunday, January 13 at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Aventura, FL at 5 P.M.
About the Four Classical Sundays at Five Concerts
Four Classical Sundays at Five is a series of four classical salon-style piano recitals, presented at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center by the non-profit organization Miami International Piano Festival featuring renowned classical artists from around the globe.
The unique concert experience brings the tradition of the salon concerts of the 19th century back to life, allowing artist and audience to know each other on a deeper level than ever before. By breaking the barrier between artist and audience through direct interaction, a new level of intimacy between performer and spectator is achieved. A post-recital Meet the Artist reception allows audience and performer to get to know one another in an even more intimate setting.
This second event in the series will present the extraordinary French pianist Eric Ferrand-N’Kaoua. Mr. Ferrand-N’Kaoua has been praised for his “natural sense of phrasing and color,” and his keen ability to bring the music, rather than himself, to the forefront. His program is a tribute to a variety of periods from European Romanticism to American Romance and will highlight composers such as Mendelssohn, Liszt, Chopin, Berlioz, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson and Gershwin.
Eric Ferrand N’Kaoua, has performed with the New Japan Philharmonic, as well as other Japanese orchestras, and has also performed in such exemplary concert halls as the Theâtre du Châtelet in Paris and the Wigmore Hall in London. He has collaborated with the extraordinary violinist Gilles Apap, an artist frequently featured in this Festival.
During the recital on January 13, works by the American artist Edna Glaubman (1919-1986) will be on display in the lobby. Many of Glaubman’s works were inspired by musicians and selected works from the Glaubman Family Collection, will serve as a prelude to the Miami International Piano Festival’s upcoming “Music Meets Painting” program.
The program in the Discovery Series in May will actually show a visual artist creating a work of art in real time while being accompanied by the music performed on stage. Glaubman, an influential artist, lived and worked in Miami from 1961 to 1986, and was part of of the original Coconut Grove Arts movement that shaped the vibrant and evolving aesthetic of the region. A percentage of proceeds from the sale of these works will benefit the Miami International Piano Festival.
“As we celebrate 16 years of a truly enriching and exciting journey into the world of the piano, we reflect on our mission,” noted the Miami International Piano Festival’s Artistic Director Giselle Brodsky. “We want to keep the art of classical piano music alive, bring it to our devoted audiences, and expand it into the next generation.”
Patrons of Exceptional Artists, through the presentation of The Miami International Piano Festival and an expanding variety of concert series worldwide, is dedicated to discovering, promoting, supporting and documenting the great Masters of the keyboard emerging in this generation.
