William Peace University Director of Visitor Services Joins Wake County Community Foundation Board

Rebecca B. Leggett Appointed to Serve on Local Nonprofit Organization’s Board of Directors

Raleigh, NC, January 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that Rebecca B. Leggett, director of visitor services, has been appointed to Wake County Community Foundation’s board of directors. A charitable and nonprofit organization which stands as an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF), the Wake County Community Foundation works alongside more than 650 community partners in an effort to transform the United States and its neighborhoods through the power of philanthropy. Leggett will serve as part of an all-volunteer board whose 14 members reflect the communities assisted by the foundation.

The NCCF is the single statewide community foundation serving North Carolina, having made $68 million in grants since its inception in 1998. Over the last 14 years, NCCF has consistently provided long-term support to a broad range of community needs, nonprofit organizations, institutions and scholarships. Its partnership with 60 affiliate foundations, like the Wake County Community Foundation, has opened the door to provide local resource allocation and community assistance across 67 North Carolina counties.

As William Peace University’s director of visitor services, Leggett is responsible for serving external and internal clients in facility rental and usage, assisting faculty and staff members in planning major campus events, and scheduling the use of university facilities for internal, non-academic events and meetings. Additionally, she proactively recruits guest groups who further the mission of the university, develops revenue and direct expense budgets, and tracks inquiry sources for marketing planning.

Quotes:
“One of the most important activities we can provide is to take the time to give back to others in need,” said Leggett. “The foundation is passionate about implementing innovative and mutually beneficial community programs across Wake County and I am proud to serve on foundation’s board of directors and work for those who need our support the most.”

“As educators, we enter our field knowing that we have committed to a life of service as we teach and build up the next generation of leaders,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. “We appreciate that Rebecca has embraced this philosophy to assist the Wake County Community Foundation and its philanthropic efforts toward learning and other opportunities that will assist many individuals in need.”
