Palm Habor, FL, January 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Great Circle Industries, Inc. (GCI) recently joined Audubon Lifestyles and the International Sustainability Council (ISC-Audubon) as a Platinum Member. The basis of GCI technologies are unique and highly advantageous physical/biological wastewater treatment processes. GCI is headquartered in Los Angeles, California but distributes their innovative irrigation products throughout the United States.

Current statistics indicate that irrigation accounts for 80% of consumptive water use in the U.S. However, recycled water accounts for less than 0.5% of all consumptive water use even though it is the most environmentally sound, most appropriate, and least controversial use of irrigation water. Anyone who desires or advocates sustainable landscaping should be incorporating recycled wastewater in place of fresh water for irrigation, because it holds the greatest promise for preserving our scarce freshwater reserves.

GCI’s premier breakthrough technology incorporates a point-of-need wastewater treatment system designed primarily for irrigation reuse applications. The system uses a variety of principally physical treatments to produce product water that retains soluble plant nutrients, while meeting the highest microbial effluent disinfection standards for unrestricted water reuse. The product water can be used for irrigation applications having high nutrient demands, can be blended with fresh water, or can be biologically stabilized in an aerated effluent storage basin for irrigation applications requiring only limited nitrogen content.

GCI’s technology is a significant departure from conventional water recycling systems and technologies, offering major benefits in terms of cost, performance and available applications. The principal objective is to produce irrigation-grade water that is substantially free of solids and totally disinfected, yet is high in plant nutrients providing valuable water and nutrients for all types of irrigation reuse. The effluent product water is safe to use for irrigation directly or can be treated further to render it suitable for other uses, including discharge to surface water bodies or groundwater recharge.

Appropriate irrigation applications include golf courses, farms, orchards, vineyards, parks, athletic fields, and highway landscaping.

By joining as a Platinum Member, GCI has joined the growing network of businesses, municipalities, non-profits and others who are actively showing their support of ISC-Audubon. Platinum Membership was created to help foster sustainability by working with, and providing educational resources to individuals, businesses, organizations, universities, government entities, municipalities, communities, neighborhoods, and virtually anyone seeking assistance to balance the triple bottom line of people, profit, and planet where they live, work, and play.

Funds generated through memberships and donations are used by ISC-Audubon to provide fruit & vegetable seeds, wildflower seed mix, and wildlife feed & birdseed to urban and suburban communities around the world. These seeds are used by communities to establish fruit and vegetable gardens, bird and wildlife sanctuaries, and for the beautification of urban and suburban landscapes by creating flower and native plant gardens. GCI’s support and membership allows ISC-Audubon to expand their efforts to promote sustainability worldwide, and to Spread the Seeds of Sustainability.

R. Eric Dodson, Executive Director for ISC-Audubon said, “We are very excited to welcome GCI into the ISC-Audubon family. Through their innovative technology product line, and specifically with their i50 wastewater treatment system, GCI are showing their steadfast commitment to advocating sustainable water quality management. And by becoming a Platinum Member they are leading by example. Their commitment and efforts are to be commended.”

Leading businesses like GCI are finding innovative ways to improve their environmental and social performance. And their actions not only contribute to a cleaner, healthier and safer planet, but they also result in significant business and financial benefits. Sustainability is not an asset that can be bought or sold; however it is becoming an integral part of the way that businesses are being managed and operated.

ISC-Audubon Platinum Membership provides businesses like GCI with a vast pool of resources to assist them with all of their sustainability efforts, and also allows for participation in Sustainability Certification Programs.

In addition, GCI has earned the right to use the ISC-Audubon Platinum Member Logo on their educational materials, and will be listed on the ISC-Audubon Network for Sustainability.

David Peterson, CEO of Great Circle Industries, said, “We are excited to become a Platinum Member of ISC-Audubon and to contribute to their sustainability initiatives. ISC-Audubon is making the world a better place and we are honored to support their efforts.”
