In March 2007, the NASD filed Amendment No. 4 to the proposed NASD Rule 2821 which prescribes sweeping changes in sales practices and supervisory requirements for dealings in deferred variable annuities. The new rule poses a number of changes specifically designed to ensure compliance that includes specific governing recommendations and training requirements.
The Knowledge Congress has assembled a panel of distinguished experts who will share their insights on the legal implications of these policies to the organizations most impacted by them. The panel will present their findings in this two-hour live teleconference.

Michael DeGeorge is Vice president and General Counsel of NAVA. He works actively with NAVA's committees and members to promote the growth, acceptance, and understanding of annuity and variable life insurance products by monitoring, evaluating, and participating in federal and state regulatory initiatives affecting the industry. Mr. DeGeorge is also responsible for NAVA's educational initiatives.
Prior to joining NAVA, Mr. DeGeorge was engaged in the practice of law for 22 years. He received his B.S. degree in accounting, with high honors, from the University of Maryland in 1974, and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Maryland in 1977. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
