Friedmans Fine Art Features the Work of Artist Pat Walker-Fields
Savannah, GA, July 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- For the month of August Friedman's Fine Art will showcase the work of Pat Walker-Fields, one of the many Bay St. Louis, MS residents who were forced to relocate in the aftermath of Hurricaine Katrina. Her latest oil paintings of still-life and various scenes will evoke emotional and even spiritual responses as viewers are moved by her dramatic rendering of light and dark tones.
Patricia Walker-Fields was born at home in Tippah County, Mississippi. She spent her childhood in a small farming community called Rolling Fork on the Mississppi Delta, where her father farmed and her mother wrote poetry. Pat was encouraged and taught by her mother to draw at an early age, and she hasn’t stopped yet.
“Chiaroscuro,” or the playing of light and dark tones off of one another, is a technique used by the artist to create contrast and drama in her representational oil paintings. Walker-Fields paints with the goal of evoking emotional and even spiritual responses in both herself and in her viewers.
“I want to carry the viewer into the painting with the beauty of light, but leave enough mystery, allowing the heart [of the viewer] to feel something deep and compelling.”
-Pat Walker-Fields
Paintings by Pat Walker-Fields are held in the PBS art collection, and she will be featured by PBS in a documentary this year. Mrs. Walker-Fields is an inducted member of Oil Painters of America and is recognized by the state of Mississippi as being one of the state’s favorite artists for several years running. Pat enjoys sharing her artistic knowledge through teaching - currently she teaches a gifted class at St. Clare Elementary School and an adult class in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
