Puppets to Battle in 1st On-Line Competition
A first of its kind on-line contest is featuring a unique group of contestants from around the world: Puppets.
Venutra, CA, July 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Puppets from all over the world are competing on-line for big prizes in a global competition sponsored by Axtell Expressions, a professional puppet design company in Ventura, California.
All of the puppets competing in the video contest were each originally designed by Steve Axtell, whose company makes puppets for entertainers and production companies in over 60 countries. The contest is the first of its kind.
A wide variety of puppeteers will submit videos showing the puppets in action. The videos are limited to 2 minutes and may be comedic, dramatic or educational in nature. A world-class panel of judges drawn from the entertainment industry will determine the winner.
The judges include Broadway star and Tony Award winning ventriloquist, Jay Johnson; Dreamworks Animation Director (Shrek 2, Spirit) Kelly Asbury; Muppet Show writer, Craig Shemin; Las Vegas top ventriloquist, Ronn Lucas; Barney & Friends director, Fred Holmes; former Focus On the Family film director, Stephen Stiles; TV producer and puppeteer Lee Armstrong; Maher Ventriloquist Studios instructor, Clinton Detweiler; Executive Director Vent Haven Convention, Mark Wade; and LegoLand performer and America’s Got Talent favorite, Kevin Johnson.
“This is not only a fun contest but a great opportunity for entertainers to demonstrate their talent by uploading their performance videos. Thousands of viewers from all over the world are watching them, so this is breaking new ground," says Axtell.
"I can't believe all the response we've received,” exclaimed Greg Jackson, who is managing the video contest. “We've received another 15 videos just today. The judges are in for a real treat.”
The deadline for entries is August 1st. All the videos coming in can be viewed on the Axtell website (www.axtell.com). Winners in Adult, Youth, and Kids categories will be revealed on August 31st on the site.
