Atlanta’s Newest Theatre Group to Produce “Parting” by Nubia Kai

Atlanta, GA, July 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Tafari Jirani Theatre members from Howard University, Spelman College, California Institute of the Arts, Roosevelt University, and University of West Georgia return home to Atlanta to stage its third production on August 4 in the Southwest Arts Center

Tafari Jirani Theatre, Atlanta’s newest theatre group, is presenting “Parting,” a three-act play written by Nubia Kai and directed by Camille Kashaka. The play will be held on August 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Southwest Arts Center in Atlanta.

“Parting” will give the audience an up-close and personal look at a relationship that has run its course. When Sherrie realizes that the battles her long-term boyfriend Sudan, a revolutionary poet, fights out in the world are synonymous with the battles she fights within their home, she decides to leave. What ensues is a two-day ordeal of back and forth; a parting of hearts, minds and souls.

Tafari Jirani Theatre was formed in 2006 by a group of students who attended the award-winning drama program at Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Ga.

This is the company’s third theatrical production and is considered their most intriguing endeavor yet. The show stars Ernest Adeji-Boateng, a sophomore at Roosevelt University in Chicago, and Ashley Cleveland, a sophomore at Spelman College. The production is directed by Camille Kashaka, a senior at Howard University and assisted directed by Christopher Hampton, a sophomore at the California Institute of the Arts.
