Houston Master-Planned Communities Report Strong Sales of Commercial Properties
Houston, TX, January 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- After completing a year of strong residential sales in its Houston-area master-planned communities, The Johnson Development Corp. now reports commercial properties in these areas are selling at an equally impressive rate.
The developer of nine Houston master-planned communities, including three of the nation’s top 20 residential sellers, sold more than $15 million of commercial property in its portfolio, just over 42 acres, in 2012. The figure represents a 20-percent jump in commercial sales in the company’s master-planned communities from 2011.
“Commercial activity typically follows strong residential growth,” notes Jennifer Johnson, Vice President – Commercial Sales for Johnson Development. “That’s certainly what we’re seeing in all of our Houston-area communities.”
Commercial properties within master-planned communities are best suited for banks, grocers, pharmacies, daycare for children, medical facilities and office space, she adds.
“While new home buyers are attracted to the amenities and lifestyle of our communities, they also want nearby services for their family,” says Johnson.
The company projects it will sell close to 80 acres of commercial land, valued at about $24.5 million, in its Houston-area master-planned communities in 2013.
“Businesses are attracted to the buying power of our residents and the strong architectural controls of a master-planned community,” says Johnson. “We certainly expect a big 2013.”
