WaveRoller Well Positioned to Pilot Chilean Wave Energy Production
Vantaa, Finland, February 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A Finnish industry delegation, lead by PMI Jyrki Katainen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding of cooperation in the energy sector between Chile and Finland. This agreement includes an initial statement to set up a WaveRoller power plant in Chile as a showcase for wave energy.
The handshake between the Chilean Minister of Energy, Mr. Jorge Bunster and the CEO of AW-Energy, Mr. John Liljelund signals a strong Chilean commitment to non-conventional renewables, such as wave power.
Chile is one of the most rapidly growing economies in the region and has a clear demand for new clean energy and less dependence of fossil fuels.
Chile has a long shoreline with huge wave energy resources and a growing need for clean and local energy, as the country is vast and remote areas often lack infrastructure. "This is the perfect setup for wave energy," says the CEO of AW-Energy.
