National Simultaneous Red Balloon Release Raises Heart Awareness for American Heart Month
Ohio Heart and Vascular Center Announces Its Participation in National EECP® Therapy Week
Cincinatti, OH, February 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Ohio Heart and Vascular Center announced today that as part of the national recognition of February as American Heart Month and the week of February 18th – 22nd as EECP® Therapy Week, the center will be holding a Red Balloon Release on Tuesday, February 19th at 1:00 PM as well as a luncheon at the Twin Dragon restaurant in West Chester for past EECP® patients. Dr. Charles Abbottsmith, Medical Director, will be in attendance and Doris Osborne, EECP® Coordinator will be the educator. The Ohio Heart and Vascular Center will join EECP® providers nationwide to commemorate the benefits of EECP® in the fight against heart disease by releasing, simultaneously, dozens of red balloons.
The International EECP® Therapists Association (IETA), the national organization of EECP® therapists and other healthcare professionals who provide EECP® therapy in hospitals, clinics and private practices have declared this, the last full week in February, the Second Annual EECP® Therapy Week. EECP® therapy centers around the country and some participating centers overseas will host events and conduct activities designed to increase the public’s awareness of EECP® therapy and the role it plays in cardiovascular disease management.
The Ohio Heart and Vascular Center is an Affiliate of the Christ Hospital. The practice contains 40 physicians sub-specialized in coronary intervention, advanced heart failure, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, advanced imaging, peripheral vascular disease, clinical cardiology and pulmonary hypertension. This includes over 1,200 clinical trials and many “first” procedures done in both the U.S. and worldwide.
EECP® therapy is an FDA cleared, Medicare approved, non-invasive outpatient therapy for treating patients who are experiencing the symptoms of angina and heart failure. There are approximately 600 EECP® therapy centers in the United States and over 250 outside the USA in countries around the world on every continent, with the exception of Antarctica.
