St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center Presents 15th Annual Morning Glory Brunch

The annual garden party, presented by Sycuan Casino, will be held April 13, 2013.

San Diego, CA, February 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center’s 15th Annual Morning Glory Brunch will brighten the lives of San Diego families and residents while raising funds and awareness for the organization that changes the lives of many. The popular brunch will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on St. Madeleine’s campus at 2119 E. Madison Avenue in El Cajon.

St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center and Honorary Chair Laurie McGrath will host the Brunch with a country flair featuring more than 20 food, wine, and beer stations; live music and entertainment; and a special Arts Alive exhibit by Jasmine Creek Florist. Boutique shopping with works of art created by Sophie’s Gallery student artists will fill St. Madeleine’s campus. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in Chinese and silent auctions, view art and gardening demonstrations from San Diego Master Gardeners, and participate in the annual frog race (1 frog for $100, 2 frogs for $150). Frog race competitors have the opportunity to win more than $10,000 in cash and prizes.

A thrilling new aspect of the Morning Glory Brunch is a cooking demonstration by Maitres Cuisiniers de France, executive Chef Bernard Guillas, who has provided delicacies to his customers at The Marine Room since 1994. Chef Bernard will teach the audience how to make a recipe from his award-winning book, Flying Pans. His 30-minute demonstration will begin at 11:00 a.m. Guillas’ cookbook will be on sale for a special price to Morning Glory Brunch participants (cash/check only) and guests will have the opportunity to have their cookbooks signed by Chef Bernard.

A new family-friendly area will be another highlight of this year’s Morning Glory Brunch that will include face painting, art activities, and a go-fish opportunity drawing with child-friendly prizes (1 fish for $5; 3 for $10).

St. Madeleine’s will also be adding two 6-passenger golf carts for guests, to promote accessibility to the garden area for those with special mobility needs.

Sponsors for this year’s event include presenting sponsor Sycuan Casino, St. Madeleine Sophie’s Auxiliary, VideoFact, Lundy Insurance, The Ferrantelli Family, KPBS, Waste Management, and Ability Center.

Restaurants include Anthony’s Fish Grotto, Coffee Ambassador, Downtown Café, Hacienda Casa Blanca, Grove Pastry Shop, Kip’s Café, O’ American Kitchen, Por Favor, On the Border, Hooleys, Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill, Sycuan Casino and The Brigantine-La Mesa. Beverage participants include San Pasqual Winery Tasting Room & Gallery, Ballast Point, Stone Brewing Co., and PRP Wine International. More restaurant and beverage participants will be announced.

Tickets support St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, the nonprofit organization that improves the lives of adults with developmental disabilities (e.g. autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy). Tickets are available for $60 through March 31 (prices to increase to $75 beginning April 1). A couple’s package is offered for $200, which includes two admission tickets and two frogs. Tickets for children 7 to 12 years will be sold for $25, and all children 6 years old and under are invited to attend at no cost.
