United Way of the Greater Triangle Appoints J.R. Shearin as Board of Directors’ Chair

Former Treasurer for Local Nonprofit Organization Named to Board of Directors

Raleigh, NC, February 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- United Way of the Greater Triangle (http://www.unitedwaytriangle.org), a nonprofit organization that works to improve lives by mobilizing local partner agencies, nonprofits, government volunteers and experts in Durham, Johnston, Orange and Wake counties, has announced J.R. Shearin as chair of the board of directors. In his new position, Shearin will be responsible for leading United Way of the Greater Triangle’s board of directors in assisting the organization’s strategic impact on the community while helping thousands in need. Since 2007, Shearin has volunteered for the nonprofit organization, first as the annual workplace United Way campaign cabinet chair and later serving on the board before taking the position of first vice chair for the organization.

In addition to United Way of the Greater Triangle’s board, Shearin serves on a number of advisory boards, including Alliance Medical Ministry, Capital City Club, Daniel Center for Math and Science, North Carolina State University College of Management, and the Occoneechee Council of Boy Scouts. He serves on the board of advisors and Economic Development Committee for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

Shearin serves as the office managing partner for Deloitte, a global practice dedicated to financial advisory, consulting, tax and accounting.
