Nuclear Power Asia Moving to Hanoi, Vietnam in January 2014
Vietnam in advanced stage of developing nuclear power programme.
Singapore, Singapore, February 17, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Vietnam is one of the Asian countries actively planning to start a nuclear power programme in the following years. According to the World Nuclear Association, Vietnam intends to build 8 nuclear plants by 2030 and the first of its plants is scheduled to be finished by 2020. With Vietnam being at the heart of regional nuclear developments, the 5th annual Nuclear Power Asia will therefore move the largest gathering of nuclear experts to Hanoi, Vietnam in January next year.
Supported by the World Nuclear Association, the conference is the main platform in Asia for international nuclear regulators, nuclear energy agencies and operators to discuss challenges and opportunities that countries looking at establishing a nuclear power programme are facing.
“Six countries in the far east are looking at the possibility of starting a nuclear power programme. Two of these countries, Vietnam and Bangladesh, are in a very advanced stage of this,” says Yury Sokolov, Vice President, Global Nuclear Infrastructure for Rosatom Overseas, who spoke at this year’s Nuclear Power Asia in Malaysia.
“Vietnam and Bangladesh have an intergovernmental agreement with Russia and Japan on construction of nuclear power plants.”
The 2013 edition of Nuclear Power Asia was recently held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Witnessing 193 nuclear power stakeholders from 21 countries, the event was extremely successful with 99% of participants saying they would attend next year’s event as well.
“Nuclear Power Asia was excellent. First class speakers, a variety of exhibitors and a warm welcome in Malaysia made this event most memorable,” says Stuart Cloke, Senior Director & Company Secretary, World Nuclear Association, “The World Nuclear Association is looking forward to partnering again with Clarion Events, to make the Nuclear Power Asia 2014 even more successful.”
Nuclear Power Asia
Now in its fifth year, Nuclear Power Asia is a must attend event for the international and regional stakeholders within the nuclear power industry. The 2014 edition returns to Hanoi, Vietnam in January with a focus on key and pressing issues as well as the latest developments facing the nuclear power industry in Asia. With 200+ expected attendees, and a targeted exhibition, Nuclear Power Asia 2014 will continue to be the region’s premier conference and exhibition for the nuclear power community.
