Volunteer Project Begins Work on Home for U.S. Army Cpl. Cody Stanton in Holly Springs, N.C.
Raleigh, NC, February 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Operation: Coming Home (http://operationcominghome.com), a joint volunteer project by the Triangle Veterans Association, Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA), the United States Veterans Corps and Royal Oaks Homes, among others, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the dedication of the organization’s fifth Hero Home on Thursday, Feb. 14 in the Forest Springs development in Holly Springs, N.C. The recipient of the fifth home is U.S. Army Cpl. Cody Stanton, a Purple Heart recipient who lost both legs due to an IED explosion while serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in January 2012.
The groundbreaking ceremony included addresses by Tim Minton, president of the Operation: Coming Home Foundation and executive vice president of the HBA; Rich Van Tassel, president of Royal Oaks Homes, the builder of the fifth Hero Home; Dick Sears, mayor of Holly Springs and representatives from the U.S. Army. Stanton and his family were in attendance, as were members of the Operation: Coming Home foundation, volunteers and project donors.
Specially fitted and wheel-chair friendly, the new home will include a number of features designed to ensure easy accessibility to all rooms. The ceremony marked the beginning of construction, with the completion of the home projected for July 2013.

“Cpl. Stanton is an outstanding young man who has demonstrated bravery in serving his country that cannot be understated,” said Minton. “Through Operation: Coming Home, we hope to give him a home where he can not only live, but thrive for years to come. This certainly would not have been possible without volunteers stepping up and making a commitment to the building process.”
