ProtestHealthCare.org Takes on Dallas

Texans will rally for change at Dallas City Hall in support of solving the problem of the American healthcare system

Dallas, TX, August 03, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Representatives from five nationally recognized health-related organizations have agreed to speak about the problems of healthcare in America during a rally at Dallas City Hall on August 5, 2007. The event, which will take place between 11:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M., has been organized by ProtestHealthCare.org so that Texans can stand together and show support for changing the American healthcare system.

Speakers: Richard Stephens for National Nurses Organizing Committee; Gene Lantz for Jobs with Justice and Texas Alliance for Retired Americans; Lee Knox for psychological treatment; and Tracy and Katie Glantz for ProtestHealthCare.org.

Partners: Health for All Texas; National Nurses Organizing Committee and The DFW Metro Committee; Physicians for National Health Program; California Nurses Associations; 89.3 FM KNON; North Texas Independent Media Center; and Healthcare-NOW.

"We believe a lot of Americans feel helpless in changing the healthcare system and, as a family, we wanted to do something about it," said Linda Glantz, co-founder of ProtestHealthcare.org and a pre-school teacher at DeSoto Private School. "We agreed to help ignite a movement for change, because we believe that healthcare should not be a privilege but, rather, the right of every American citizen."

ProtestHealthCare.org believes that every citizen should have an equal opportunity to healthcare without the limitations of pre-existing conditions or financial gain by insurance and pharmaceutical companies. The organization’s goal is to end selective healthcare so that Americans will never be denied coverage based on previous medical conditions or on their financial status. They aim to increase awareness of this problem so that every American has access to proper healthcare.

ProtestHealthCare.org endorses H.R. 676, which gives citizens access to affordable quality healthcare – including doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, mental health services, nursing home care, rehab, home care, eye care, and dental care. Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30), Shelia Jackson-Lee (TX-18), and Al Green (TX-9) are the only three representatives in Texas who have endorsed H.R. 676.

The Glantz family has published a Web site, where visitors can get involved by downloading a letter to send to their Congressmen, access resources about the healthcare industry, and sign a petition. The site encourages individuals to attend the August rally and wear the color red to show their support. For more information, please visit www.protesthealthcare.org

About ProtestHealthCare.org:
ProtestHealthCare.org is a small grassroots organization that was founded in July 2007 by four members of the Glantz family, who are longtime residents of Dallas, Texas. Inspired and angered by the Michael Moore film, "Sicko," they collectively agreed to help ignite a movement for change. They feel it is time to reorganize and reform our healthcare system so it benefits all American citizens.
