Brenton B. Koch, MD, FACS, of Des Moines, Iowa, has authored his second resource to educate, empower and instill confidence in those considering plastic surgery

Brenton B. Koch, MD, FACS, is leading the way in offering resources to educate and empower those considering plastic surgery. “The decision to have plastic surgery is a big one,” Koch says.

January 2013, Koch released his book 50 Questions (You MUST Ask) Before You Have Plastic Surgery (available for purchase on Amazon.com or through our office by emailing daphne@kochmd.com) as a resource to help people considering elective cosmetic surgery research, plan and tackle good ole’ fashioned question asking during the consultation process.

“I am fortunate to spend the majority of my time in my West Des Moines, Iowa, practice, answering patients' questions. It is no secret that patients who ask more questions and have a better understanding of what to expect before, during and after plastic surgery, have better outcomes,” Koch states. “From personal experience, I know my patients feel empowered and less anxious throughout the surgical process because of the questions they ask.”

After more than a decade in private practice, Koch realized it was time to assemble the top questions into one, easy-to-read and understand resource for people considering plastic surgery. Quite simply, he has taken the mystery out of the consultation experience and provides the consumer with the questions he or she simply must ask before having plastic surgery.

“I encourage people to arm themselves with knowledge, do homework, plan, research, and go into what can be an incredibly positive life experience with confidence and serenity,” suggests Koch.

This book will help empower consumers by:

1. Alleviating worries
2. Saving them thousands of dollars by asking the right questions
3. Instilling confidence that he or she has made the right choice
4. Showing how to have plastic surgery without putting one’s life on hold
5. Providing a list of medications to take/avoid before and after surgery
6. Offering ways to explain the decision to family, friends and co-workers
7. Understanding anesthesia and knowing what to expect
8. Having no regrets
