Oakview Apartments Engages Engineering Firm to “Go Green.”

The 210-unit community, located in the heart of Millville, NJ, recently made a commitment to provide a superior level of convenience for residents, while becoming more environmentally efficient. The objective behind this initiative is to deliver a higher comfort level and create more savings for the over 210 families in the community.
Oakview Apartments teamed up with New York-based ZeroDraft CNY, Inc. to accomplish this effort. ZeroDraft specializes in lowering utility costs without sacrificing comfort. According to their website, the company utilizes cutting-edge platforms that are designed to improve energy efficiency and are performed to the highest health and safety standards.
ZeroDraft consultant Greg Royer says that the weatherization work completed at Oakview will provide several benefits to tenants and building owners, including:
· Reducing outside air filtration, resulting in an average 50% reduction in the level of outside air that enters each unit
· Adding a continuous vapor barrier throughout every crawlspace, eliminating moisture and mildew, helping to improve the health and safety of the residents while increasing the building’s durability
· Decreasing the overall energy spend of the complex by about 15-20%
“Oakview made a wise decision to go green,” says Dolores Barbetti, resident at Oakview. “Even with the low temperatures, I still notice a big difference in how warm it’s staying in my apartment.”
According to Jilnell Kolatia, ARM® Property Manager at Oakview Apartments, Barbetti isn’t the only pleased resident.
