Check Out the 2013 NFL Combine on FieldTurf

Indianapolis, IN, February 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Starting this Saturday, Indianapolis sets the stage as college football’s best prospects will demonstrate their skills at the 2013 NFL Combine. Once again, the event is being held on FieldTurf at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.

The crown jewel of the combine is the 40-yard dash, which showcases one of the most sought after player attributes – speed. FieldTurf has always been known as a fast surface, due in part to its heavyweight infill. Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans set the record for fastest 40-time at Lucas Oil Stadium on FieldTurf, running it in 4.24 seconds in 2008. Johnson went on to be drafted by the Titans in the 1st round of the draft that year, and has become a perennial Pro Bowler rushing for over 2000 yards in 2010. Here’s a look at the top 10 best times on FieldTurf since 2006:

4.24 – Chris Johnson, RB, East Carolina (2008)
4.28 – Jacoby Ford, WR, Clemson (2010)
4.28 – Demarcus Van Dyke, DB, Miami (2011)
4.30 – Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland (2009)
4.30 – Tye Hill, CB, Clemson (2006)
4.31 – Tyvon Branch, CB, Connecticut (2008)
4.31 – Jonathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina (2006)
4.31 – Justin King, CB, Penn State (2008)
4.32 – Chad Jackson, WR, Florida (2006)
4.32 – Tim Jennings, CB, Georgia (2006)

Running on FieldTurf at the Combine should be familiar territory for several of the top NFL prospects, having played their home games on the surface. For example, Geno Smith from West Virginia, Star Lotulelei from University of Utah, Eric Fisher from Central Michigan University, Sheldon Richardson from University of Missouri, and Kenny Vaccaro from University of Texas.
