Waste King Takes Off After the Eagle Has Landed

The final of the hit ITV diving show "Splash!" – which saw Eddie, the Eagle, Edwards win in spectacular style – was the signal for Waste King, the specialist collections, clearance and recycling company, to spring into action.

Hemel Hempstead, United Kingdom, February 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The final of the hit ITV diving show "Splash!" – which saw Eddie, the Eagle, Edwards win in spectacular style – was the signal for Waste King, the specialist collections, clearance and recycling company, to spring into action. Under contract to Two Four Studios, working on behalf of the ITV1 network, Waste King’s operatives cleared the equivalent of six skip loads of waste as the "Splash!" set was broken up.

The show, hosted by Vernon Kay and Gabby Logan, saw Olympian Tom Daley teaching his sport to 15 celebrities, before they demonstrated their skills in a series of Saturday night live shows. Their efforts were scored by a panel of judges – the former Olympic diver Leon Taylor, Team GB coach Andy Banks, and the comedienne Jo Brand – with viewers voting for their favourites.

Splash! ended its five-part run with 5.6 million viewers - and a series average audience of 5.42 million. ITV1 has now commissioned a second series.

Glenn Currie, Waste King’s managing director, commented: “It was good to see Eddie the Eagle reverse his highly memorable but unsuccessful ski jumping performance in the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, in 1988, to become a diving champion.

“Being fans of the show, it was great for Waste King to be asked to help clear up after all the excitement. We wish the show well for its next series – and, hopefully, we’ll be there at the end to help clear up again.”

Waste King began its relationship with the with the film and television industry in 2009. Since then, Waste King has continued working for film companies and film studios – ensuring that the significant amounts of waste that are produced by this industry are disposed of in as ecologically friendly a way as possible.

Waste King’s business ethos is to send the minimum amount of whatever it collects to landfill. It aims to reduce long term pollution to a minimum and thus help protect the environment for current and future generations.

Currently, it guarantees to recycle – that is, not send to landfill – over 90 per cent of every load of waste it collects.
