CEE and Gen-Probe Host Bite of Science Dinner Event to Strengthen Science Teaching
Teachers will have the opportunity to hear Dr. Rohr and Dr. Woolf speak about cutting edge research areas, view a laboratory demonstration if possible, and find out how to connect the research to the high school classroom and laboratory. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, network with peers, and interface with Dr. Rohr and Dr. Woolf r during the informal dinner.
McLean, VA, February 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) and Gen-Probe will host a Bite of Science dinner event, cost-free, for high school teachers at the San Diego County Department of Education located at 6401 Linda Vista Road in San Diego, CA. The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Science teachers who wish to broaden their perspective of science in their classroom are invited to participate.
The mission of the Teacher Enrichment Program is to assure a future talented and diverse U.S. workforce in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It focuses on best practices and resources, as well as exposure to the breadth and depth of scientific discovery often not available to rural and urban high school teachers and their students. The Bite of Science professional development opportunities for teachers is estimated to impact at least 10,275 California students in 2013.
The Teacher Enrichment Program will provide content and information for teachers to engage students to pursue careers in science and technology.

· Dr. Lawrence Woolf, Materials Physicist and Engineering Manager, Reconnaissance Systems Group, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems
Drs. Rohr and Woolf will discuss their work and relate it back to the classroom for the teachers.
The goals of the Teacher Enrichment Program are to:
· -Provide teachers with enhanced professional development
· -Furnish the opportunity for teachers to ask questions and to interact directly with scientists and engineers
· -Foster excitement in teachers to create an interest for students in STEM fields
· -Inform teachers so they have a better understanding of research and development
· -Allow teachers the opportunity to network with their peers
