Enjoy the Old World ambiance in Park Slope that’s near several subways. Feast on French-Hungarian cuisine and delectable pastries. Relax with some wine or beer, a cup of coffee or tea while listening to great poetry. There’s an open mic as well. Poetry does grow in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Bios:

E.J. Antonio is a 2009 fellow in Poetry from the New York Foundation for the Arts and a recipient of fellowships from the Hurston/Wright Foundation and the Cave Canem Foundation. Her work has appeared online at www.torchliteraryarts.org, and has been published in various journals and magazines; including, African Voices Literary Magazine, Terra Incognita, Black Renaissance Noire, Mobius: The Poetry Magazine, The Encyclopedia Project, The Mom Egg, and One Word/Many Voices: A Bi-Lingual Poetry Anthology. Her first chapbook, Every Child Knows, was published in the fall of 2007 by the Premier Poets Chapbook Series, and her debut CD, Rituals in the marrow: Recipe for a jam session was released in the fall of 2010. – www.ejantoniobluez.net.

Helen Peterson is a prizing-winning poet, storyteller and acclaimed Flamenco dancer. Born into a theatrical family in Cuba, her poetry reflects her origins, featuring poetry-dance fusion. Awards include: Mobius, The Poetry Magazine, 2012, Editor’s Choice Award; Pen and Brush long poem contest award, 2000 Geraldine Dodge Foundation residency in poetry at Provincetown’s Fine Arts Work Center, MA. Korea Society Fellowship for poetry in Korea. Publications include: Mobius, The Poetry Magazine, 30th Anniversary Edition—2012; U.S.Worksheets; Pivot; International Poetry Review, bilingual (Spanish). Performances include: one-woman shows combining poems, stories, Flamenco dance, song, castanets at Tri-State venues like Nuyorican Poets Café, NYC.
